Villa Lemonia is a 19th century old stone building located in the traditional village of Palaia Nikiti in Halkidiki, Macedonia. A modern residence was created in the interior whilst maintaining the existing exterior skin of the house that has been manufactured with local stones from the first owner of the property, a local craftsman and famous builder of those times.
The walls are 1m wide, the byzantine ceiling was perfectly restituted with large wooden beams and the house top was reconstructed with old roman roof tiles.
The interior of the house is divided into two zones – the living and the sleeping area. The interior stair unites the two spaces.
Natural materials mixed with the traditional elements. Stone, tiles, marble, wood and steel were used to amalgamate the old and the new.
